Bo Ryan becomes Elite with emotional win in the Elite 8

Bo Ryan cutting down the nets

Bo Ryan haters can retire now because the 66 year-old coach has reached the Final Four. Ryan's Wisconsin Badgers fought tooth and nail to take out the #1 seed Arizona Cardinals in an epic back-and-forth regional final.

Ryan was extra emotional after the game. Mostly because it's the first year his father, Butch Ryan, isn't around to attend the Final Four. Butch would have turned 90 on the day that Bo finally punched his personal ticket to the basketball's paradise.

The stars have aligned to reward a coach and a program that's been an exemplary example for the game of college basketball.

Tournament Notebook: Sweet 16 Picks for 2014

Sweet 16 Field

Cinderellas have joined the party and ratings are up as all is Madness in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. It’s safe to say that a little unexpected and a little expected occurred over the first weekend of games. I’m not sure anyone saw six overtime games though.

Despite all the madness over the second and third rounds, 10 of the 16 teams still alive are seeded 1-through-4. Let’s forget about your brackets and pick the sweet 16 match-ups slated for Thursday and Friday as most of them will probably be straight up on ESPN’ Streak for the Cash.

How the Wisconsin Badgers match up with the entire WEST region

wisconsin-badgers-march-madness-bracket-picks

Many believe this is the best Wisconsin Badgers team Bo Ryan has ever had during his 13 years in Madison.
That's debatable since he's had teams briefly ranked number one and three teams which won at least a share of the Big Ten Title.

Nonetheless, we will soon find out if it's his best because the Badgers are set up nicely in arguably the year's easiest region.

Here's a comprehensive list of the 15 teams standing in the way of Bo Ryan's first ever Final Four.

Green Bay Packers get upgrade and risk with Julius Peppers

Julius Peppers in Green Bay

On Saturday morning, Ted Thompson and the Green Bay Packers made a splash with the signing of recently released Chicago Bear and 34 year old defensive end, Julius Peppers.

The deal has been reported to be worth three years and up to $30 million with $7.5 million in guaranteed money.

In the grand scheme of things, the money shouldn't be a problem if Peppers can do the freakishly athletic things he's been able to do for most of his career.

The problem lies in whether Peppers is truly a fit for Green Bay's 3-4 defense and/or whether he has enough left in the tank to make a difference in what was one of the leagues' worst defenses in 2013?

Streak Journal: Streakers starting to fall behind Vegas on NBA Props

NBA Basketball

Welcome to the seventh installment of my newest weekly feature. The Streak Journal will analyze a group of specific Streak for the Cash (SFTC) props from the previous week.

The purpose of this new journal is to provide streakers with a unique perspective of the props picked by ESPN’s Streakmaster and give you the straight statistics which will hopefully provide some insight to help you build a longer streak.

First Week: Beware of the NBA’s back-to-backs (Jan. 20th-26th)
Second Week: Is March Madness here early (Jan. 27th-Feb. 2nd)
Third Week: Heavy favorites are no sure thing in NHL props (Feb. 3rd-Feb. 9th)
Fourth Week: No such thing as a 99% curse on Streak for the Cash (Feb. 10th-Feb.16th)
Fifth Week: Vegas owned college basketball on SFTC this past week (Feb. 17th -23rd)
Sixth Week: NBA could be the most predictable on SFTC (Feb. 24th - Mar. 2nd)

This week (Monday, March 3rd through Sunday, March 9th), I continued to focus on straight up NBA match-ups because I want to build a larger sample size in order to make see if we can come up with some better risk analysis in regards to NBA props. We had 23 match-ups the first week and oddly enough another 23 for the second week. Here's where we stand so far:

Is there any realistic way the Wisconsin Badgers can earn a 1 seed?

Bucky

Each and every year March Madness comes rolling along, there seems to be three elite teams who are a lock for a number one seed and a separate group of teams who make it extra hard for the committee to choose a fourth number one seed.

This year the Wisconsin Badgers have entered the fold of those separate group of teams and are battling for the fourth and final top seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

What exactly needs to happen for them to gain elite status in this year’s tournament?

This week (Monday, February 24th through Sunday, March 2nd), I focused on straight up NBA match-ups because the All-Star Break is over and we have a few months to hone down on the secrets behind picking this sport on Streak for the Cash. For those above reasons, I will be spending the rest of March looking at the NBA in order to build an even larger sample size:
