#25 Wisconsin vs. Illinois: brutally honest preview

James White vs. Illinois

Wisconsin has owned the Fighting Illini over the past decade, claiming seven of the last eight matchups with Illinois.

Playing at home hasn’t made much of a difference for the Illini either as they’ve gone 2-6 at Memorial Stadium against the surging Badgers.

Linebacker Chris Borland is an “emotional leader” for the Wisconsin Badgers

Chris Borland vs. Northwestern

Wisconsin Badgers Head Coach Gary Andersen has referred to Chris Borland as “the best linebacker in the country” on numerous occasions.

While it can be argued that Andersen is slightly biased towards his experienced senior linebacker, there’s no argument about what Borland brings to the Badgers’ defense each and every week.

Fellow senior linebacker Conor O’Neill hit it on the head when he said “Borland is such a huge emotional leader, the boost he gives us before the game is something special.”

Mason Crosby leads the way in a Green Bay Packers win?

Mason Crosby Five FGs

Give a guy a chance and sometimes they will reward you or alternatively they could keep screwing you in critical situations.

That was the situation the Green Bay Packers faced at the end of last season when kicker Mason Crosby was an NFL-worst 21-of-33 (63.6 %) on field goal attempts.

Green Bay decided to stick with Crosby and they’re now reaping the benefits as he’s converted 21 straight kicks including the 2012 postseason and this year’s preseason.

Crosby proved that he’s truly back with five made field goals for the Packers (2-2)  in a 22-9 win over the Detroit Lions (3-2).

Rodgers vs. Suh

Don’t be so fast to credit beer and brats for the winning streak though because Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy is an all-time 15-1 against the Lions, wherever the game occurs.

If those numbers don’t tickle your fancy, the Packers have won eight straight regular season games at Lambeau Field and 10 straight divisional games at home.
