2011 Fantasy Trade #2: Jason and Rory Go With Draft Changes

By: Nick Grays, League Commissioner

Here we go again, as another set of draft picks has been swapped prior to Saturday's Fantasy Draft. Last year's runner-up, Jason Szmanda, decided to make a deal with Rory Linton on two draft picks.

Team Szmanda Received:
1st Round Draft Pick (10th Overall)
2nd Round Draft Pick (19th Overall)

The Rippin and the Tearin Received:
1st Round Draft Pick (14th Overall)
2nd Round Draft Pick (15th Overall)

Team Szmanda's Perspective: Since Jason was blessed with the wonderful "last pick," I think he wanted to switch it up with his first and second round choices. This way, he can move up in the first round and get a potentially less risky elite player instead of taking a chance on two borderline players at the end of the round.

The Rippin and the Tearin's Perspective: On the flip-side, the mastermind and great fantasy mind that Rory is decided to take the back-to-back late-round picks. I'm feeling like he has a great idea of a player(s) which project in that region. Rory has always been good with personnel moves, so I wouldn't expect him to strike out here.

Advantage: Push (We're talking draft picks)

Is this trade pointless or is strategy really that important in fantasy? Let me know by commenting below.
